With this option, I'm not able to adjust the game/chat volume accordingly. I can only control the master volume, which ultimately controls both game and voice chat. So I'm either stuck with an uneven volume between voice chat and game sound, or have game sounds (the way the were meant to be, - "headsets only") without any incoming voice chat at all.

Does this sound like mixamp issues? Like I've said before, my microphone works perfectly, I just can't hear anyone speak when option is set to "headset only."
I have the same problem as you.. but mine will work if its set to speakers only or headset and speakers but not headset only. I also purchased a new chat cable but that did not fix my problem... i think the faulty part is the xbox live controller chat port on the RX unit.

Something interesting I figured out is that if you have everything hooked up, audio set to headset only, record a voice message to send to someone and try to play it back to yourself then you will hear nothing. Then.. if you unplug the 360 chat cable from your controller and replay the message you can hear it fine.

Online everyone else can hear me fine but I cannot hear them... but then if I unplug the chat cable from the controller... I can hear them.. but I can no longer speak.. obviously.

So now I am stuck using it with no voice control... which defeats the whole purpose of purchasing this system in the first place... sigh.

I have no idea what is causing this problem as I have take very good care of my equipment. I'm waiting on a response from customer service on my claim... unfortunately I'm out of warranty since December. So I either buy 1 more year of warranty or a new RX unit and HOPE it fixes the problem... really sucks considering how much this system cost to begin with.

I had the same issue but fore the chat cable wasn't the issue. Go to 1)Settings 2)Privacy 3)Change settings 4)Customize 5)Voice & Text 6)Set to everyone. Worked for me. Also, go to preferences, voice, and set the volumes to reasonable levels. Also, set voice output to headset. Hope this works for u

I've got exactly the same problem as you and my Astro is brand new. Would you please let me know if you have solved your problem? I'd be very grateful. Thanks!
