If that is the case I would think so. However I would imagine just getting to use voice with the controller, no game volume.

Are you looking for a PCI slot card or PCI-e card? What is your budget? Ill recommend some solid ones (have used a lot of different sound cards... pc tech nerd)

Has he tried another controller or controller cable? Try the mic on the other side of the headset

Astro will not sell the jack itself. But you could find one online im sure and try to diy
I have no issues with mine. You should be solid. If not you have a 30 day return policy and a 1 year warranty
I did for a while. Didnt like how there was no mic monitoring in them, so I got rid of them
Have you enabled dolby digital in your console settings? Also make sure the optical cable is seated fully
I do not have any issues with my new a40s. I would say you should be solid! If not they come with a 1 year warranty and a 30 day return policy

You could use a sound card that supports dolby headphones or creatives cmss-3d software
You are going to need to get a sound card that supports optical and dolby digital live in order to hook up and get surround sound on your pc
What program are you using to chat over?
What system are you using? Have you made sure the mute cable is not on? Have you tried to use another controller or another controller cable?
You can contact astro support to see if you can send it in so they can repair it
Do you have any fans or things like that hooked up near your computer or hooked up to a surge protector with a lot of other things hooked into it?
You can connect the optical cable to your console and the usb cable to your mac for skype.
