How to update the MixAmp Pro TR

Updating your MixAmp Pro TR is essential to ensuring you have the latest firmware update which can add new features and better compatibility with current consoles while removing any bugs that could be present. Updating the firmware on your MixAmp Pro TR only takes a few minutes and just requires a PC or Mac.

Step 1) Download the latest version of the ASTRO Command Center software from the links below and install it onto your computer.

    PC - http://update.astrogaming.com/kuiper/AstroCommandCenter.msi
    Mac - http://update.astrogaming.com/kuiper/ASTROCommandCenter.dmg

Step 2) Once the ASTRO Command Center has been installed successfully, launch it up and wait until you are presented with a screen which asks you to connect a device in PC mode.

Step 3) Connect your MixAmp Pro TR to your computer using the included USB cable. No other cables or headsets are required although if you do game on a PC, you can leave them connected.

Step 4) Switch your MixAmp Pro TR from console mode to PC mode by holding down the power button for a few seconds until the outer ring changes from solid red to solid white. It may take a few minutes for Windows or Mac OS to recognise the MixAmp Pro TR if you have connected it for the first time.

Step 5) The ASTRO Command Center should detect your MixAmp Pro TR and will offer you the ability to update your MixAmp Pro TR if one is available.

Xbox One and Xbox One S - A40 TR Headset and MixAmp Pro TR Setup

Connecting your A40 TR Headset and MixAmp Pro TR to your Xbox One or Xbox One S correctly will ensure you have the best experience from Dolby Digital game audio to other functionalities such as mixing between game and voice audio using a single dial. Following our quick to read guide below will make sure you have everything connected and configured right.

    You will need
    - A40 TR Headset
    - A40 TR Inline Mute Cable or A40 TR Mobile Cable
    - MixAmp Pro TR compatible with the Xbox One
    - Optical cable
    - Micro-USB cable

    Connecting to your Xbox One
Step 1) Connect the A40 TR Inline Mute Cable or A40 TR Mobile Cable from your A40 TR Headset to your MixAmp Pro TR. The cable is not reversible, and the end nearest the mute switch will need to be connected to the headset.

Step 2) Connect the optical cable from your MixAmp Pro TR to your Xbox One.

Step 3) Connect the Micro-USB cable from your MixAmp Pro TR to a USB port located on the rear of your Xbox One. Do not use a USB port located on the left side of the Xbox One or the front of the Xbox One S and make sure the USB cable is being directly connected to the console and not routed through a USB hub such as one built into a stand.

    Configuring your Xbox One
Step 1) Switch on your Xbox One and navigate to the home screen.

Step 2) Double press the Xbox button on your Xbox One Controller to bring up the side guide. Scroll down to the settings tab and select all settings from this screen to access the full settings for the console.

Step 3) From the settings screen, navigate to display & sound > audio output.

Step 4) Change the optical audio to bitstream out and then change the bitstream format to Dolby Digital. The HDMI audio in this screen can either be disabled or changed to a format you prefer.

Step 5) Go back to the settings screen and then navigate to Kinect & devices > devices & accessories.

Step 6) You should see a device called headset which should have your profile name below it. If it says it has not been assigned or has been assigned to the wrong profile, select it to follow the instructions to assign it to your profile. Failing to do this will result in voice chat functionality not working on your headset.

    - HDMI audio extractor which has an HDMI input, an HDMI output, with an optical output. Or a TV which has an optical output which supports Dolby Digital audio passthrough from the HDMI inputs. If your TV does not support Dolby Digital passthrough, then you should still be able to hear stereo game audio from your console.

    HDMI audio extractor information.
The PS4 Slim does not contain an optical output meaning our products can't directly pull game audio from your console. However, you can purchase an HDMI audio extractor which provides this, or you can connect to the optical output on your TV providing it can passthrough the Dolby Digital audio from the HDMI inputs. You will need to contact the manufacturer of your TV for more information and instructions on how to configure this correctly.

ASTRO Gaming can't provide any information on connecting the HDMI audio extractor to your console. You will need to follow the information provided with the product or contact the manufacturer for further information. An HDMI audio extractor is a device which connects in between the HDMI cable running from your console to your TV and provides an optical output for our products to connect to and gain Dolby Digital game audio.

The basics we can provide is that it must support an HDMI input, output, an optical output, and Dolby Digital support. If you are unsure about the product you're choosing, please make a post in our forums and we can try and assist the best we can.

    Connecting to your PS4
