Thoughts About the MW3 Headsets?

Yea i saw these and you paying like 50 more a pair of those just because of the call of duty logo and name. The deltas are the PX5, the middle one are the px3 and the low end wired ones are the px11. Knowing this is what i get for working gaming retail since were taking preorders on these. Havent told one person about them yet lol.

My guess is that they wont admit that they are the same headsets. The only reason they will sell is because they have call of duty on them.

They will probably be successful because of the MW3 logo and the fact that they have cheap options. I bet they sound mediocre at best. Only competition possibly I see in the market for Astro later on are the Tritton Warheads 7.1. I'm not sure how much it costs, but it seems to be the only headset possibly on par with the A40. It could just be a flop however... Ax720 were pretty good considering the price, and the warhead can only be better.

I am not interested in the trittons however since I already own the best audio system :P Biased... I know haha. It's kinda lame the warhead is only compatible for Xbox 360, and not universal like their old headsets, which is a major nonpurchase from me.

i just looked at the trittons and they dont look as comfortable as the astros the ear pads look non comfortble compared to the astros

yeh I agree. i dont think they look as cool or professional as the a40's as well, but that's my opinion. Oh yeah one thing they do have over the A40's is complete wireless connection, which might be the selling point to some people. I'm not interested like I said, since I game 5-6 feet away from the setup.

I previously had teh AX Pros. They were comfortable bt they ended up breaking in 2 places in just over a year with normal every day use. The reason though that the warheads are not universal like the previous headsets is Tritton is now owned by madcatz and madcatz signed a deal with microsoft to produce microsoft's next headset.

i myself though dont ever plan on going back to tritton as a headset should last more than a year with no abuse.

I doubt they will admit they are the same as the lower priced models. It works the same way as tritton when they did the CoD headset last year. It was the AX Pros with a like $40 higher price tag because they are considered a limited edition.

I would think the PX21's to be better right? they are under 100, stereo, but gets the job done. I had them for a while, but it just didn't satisfy my audio needs :P

Meh, i started out with ax 180's, that was my FIRST headset LOL, SAD THING IS, after they broke (hey, they were only 39.99 LOL) i decided to get the ax pro's (mostly because it had buttons not dials (accidently turned up the dial with my pant leg multple times and just about blew my head apart ) but .... to my suprise.... the ax pro's didnt sound as good WTF??? so anyway, i got beaches for my brother (he hardly ever played),and listened to them, they sound "ok" but i really hate the build quality, theyre fine for him, but sometimes i play 8 hours straight.... so quality is VERY important to me. i have since sold my pro's and my a40's will be here tmrw, so i anticipate the enjoyment i got out of my ax 180's (EXCEPT BETTER) :) i mean seriously.... thats not setting the bar very high LOL

on a sidenote since i seem to have gotten sidetracked, people will buy anything with branding, and if they don't someone buys it for them for christmas, b=day, whatever.... ironically, i was looking for a40's on ebay and sum guy had put his on because he wanted the gears of war tritton headset LOLOLOL. ok, well whatever buddy :D

So now I have the phone on my ear, bending my neck to one side, while I have the other ear cup from my headset hanging to the side. It's a very awkward position to be in. A part of some guys review on the head set. cool feature can the astros do this? I just ordered my A40's a few days ago so i have no idea.

@iAbuseUrMum: If you ordered the Wired A40 Audio System then you can listen to music while you game by connecting the included 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable to the MP3 port on the MixAmp and your PMC of choice. However you cannot take calls while connected to the MixAmp (you can connect the headset directly to your phone for this if you wish).

The picking up the phone while gaming is a great option. I have never owned TB or Tritton so I cannot comment on the sound quality. I use the Wireless A30's and the Sony PS3 wireless stereo headset. I am still looking for the perfect gaming headset. My only complaint with my Astro set up is that I have to turn down the game sound in order to hear what my team mates are saying. The dial on the Rx has game and voice option, and I was told to put the dial on the 1 o'clock position but I often have to put it on the 3 o'clock position to hear what people are saying. A ton of people on Gamefaqs.com use TB. I am constantly told that Astros are garbage by many people on gamefaqs. They say Astro are overpriced and have average sound quality. I got into a heated debate with a couple of gamefaq posters because I was defending the Astro headphones. They say that the Astro headphones are way overpriced and sound below average. They urged everyone just to buy the astro mixamp/turtle beach DSS and some PC headphones like AD700 or Sennheiser.

I wish I had the money to buy some MGS4 A40's. Branding does attract buyers. COD is a huge franchise. I knew nothing about Astro until I saw a picture of MGS4 A40s. They were out of my price range but when I saw a picture of the MGS PW A30's I had to pull the trigger.

By the way I am huge MGS fan. Kojima is my fav game devoloper. Someone else over at Astro must also be a huge MGS fan because they keep making MGS speaker tags.
