Well, I got on Mw2 today and started playing Domination when I noticed that there were black lines going across my screen. I thought it was my Tv so I went to dashboard to see if I had the black lines. It didn't. I then thought that the problem was with the disk. I put in Cod4 and WaW but they both had the black lines. I turned off my xbox and when I tried to turn it back on I got one red ring on my xbox and a message saying to contact microsoft support and then at the bottom it said E 74 . I called up microsoft and they told me to send it in for repair. So I did it.
I then thought about beautiful Astros. It's only been a month since I've had them and my xbox just broke! :( I guess I'm gonna have to pack them away in their nice little case until I get my xbox back. RIP my old xbox. May you come back with better and improved hardware.

Doh... I've had many friends who have got the 3 RRoD. I fortunately have not had it happen to me yet *Knock on wood*. I got my Xbox back in... Oct 2007, and it was one of the Jasper chipset runs, so hopefully they fixed the problems since then (actually, I also purchased it from Costco, so if it does RRoD, I can just bring it back in, w00t).

Best of luck in the few weeks of waiting. I know it's hard.

That sucks the good news is you can use astros on your computer and your mp3s so you dont have to put them away:)

Oh do I ever know your pain. I've had the RRoD twice. The first time i sent it in and had to wait about a month to get it back and the second time i didn't even bother. I just gave my friend the dead one and bought myself a new one, then he sent it in and they fixed it for him and he had his grandpa mail him a hard drive. hahaha

My day 1 xbox had many many problems, so eventually I had it fixed and then ended up selling it and buying a new elite, which is a MUST if you still have an old one! The picture is much clearer, and it has an HDMI port which clarifies picture even more! It even runs faster than my old one. Also getting that HD monitor didn't hurt anything :)

I've modified a few parts of my xbox to try and prevent the RRoD. more heat sinks, new fans, new wiring harness, X-Clamp mod aaaand i think that's it.

I'm on my 3rd Xbox 360, and so far I've never had RRoD!
All of my problems have had to do with really random things.
One was due to basement flooding...that sucked.

My Zephyr-based Halo 3 edition is still going without incident. The only problems I have had have been user error-type stuff. (In-law blocked my fans without my knowledge and caused it to overheat, but no damage was done. I also popped an E error code once. Can't remember what error number it was, but my hard drive was just seated incorrectly, so no biggie. That one scared me to death, though. :p)

Geez, you've got worse luck than the people with time-bomb boxes. XD
