View Full Version : Extremely Irritating High-pitch sound!

I just got my second pair of A40's two weeks ago (my first pair's right ear no longer emitted sound). I was very happy with the quality of the headset up until two hours ago, when my A40 started to constantly emit a painfully loud, high-pitched sound. I have tried everything and the only solution is to play without the boom mic in, which makes the headset useless to me. I am greatly dissatisfied with the quality of this product, and I would expect more from such a prestigious company.

Hi Araujo,
Sorry that you're experiencing these strange issues. Have you tried contacting the Support Team (http://www.astrogaming.com/support/)? They should be able to help you out with what's going on and give you the most indepth answers. If they don't give you a reply within 96 hours, they would ask that you would send in another support request.
I know sometimes it can be frustrating because you just want to play and have everything working, but the Support Team as Astro is there to help you out. They even have some of their Support Team members working on the weekends to help!

Heard about someone with the same problem and it turned out that the plug that allows you to connect to other gaming headsets through the mixamp the adapter wasnt plugged in all the way so see if thats the problem.

R 2the Exel is talking about the Red Daisy Chain connector found at the bottom end of the MixAmp. You could check if it's plugged in tightly. If that doesn't work, please continue to check with Astro's Support.

It's always a good idea to pull out all connections from the mixamp (including the daisy chain) and make sure there is no dust in the jack, or on the cable. Then reconnect all cables and the daisy chain securely. It sounds like your daisy chain might be pulled out a little bit.
That should fix your issue, if it doesn't...like they said, contact support ;)

Only time a mic bugs out like that for me is if there is something interfering with it. I kind of haven't run into the problem in a long time though so I am probably not much a help.
Does it happen only when you are in that one position or can you move it away and it fixes itself? That high pitched static is almost always interference of some kind.

Well I fixed the problem (Daisy Chain wasn't inserted fully, I feel pretty foolish)... however I have a whole new set of problems to deal with. I'm gonna make a list.
-Static is heard whenever the A40 is plugged into the MixAmp, but not when plugged into an iPod or stereo.
-My friends constantly complain that there is an intolerable amount of static coming from me, to the point where I can't have the A40 connected to my controller).
-Whenever I deal with one of the previous problems I completely lose sound in the right ear.
-If I unplug the cable that connects the headset to the MixAmp slightly, the other problems are resolved but the game is nearly impossible to hear.
I haven't abused the set either, I treat it like my baby; I put the headset and the MixAmp in their boxes they were shipped in after every gaming session. Which makes it even more upsetting, and shocking when it has malfunctions of such colossal proportions. On top of that I just got it 3 weeks ago.
I contacted customer support, I received 1 message regarding the matter. It's been over 24 hours since then, and I'm kinda on edge here. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Also is there a 30-day money back guarantee or anything else of the sort. Because there is no way I am going to ship the package back to San Francisco at my own expense, being from Canada were talking $80+ both ways. For that price alone I could buy a brand new set of Trittons. I just dropped $380 on the A40 and then it gives in, in 3 weeks, what a joke.
