I'm sure you've heard this before, but it would be nice if Astro offers a wireless option. I've had the Turtle Beach X4, Tritton AXPROs, and the A40s. I love the A40s, but after a while I got so sick of the wires. I just recently sold my A40s solely because of the wires. I then bought the new X41s because they are wireless and I liked the old X4s, but not as much as the A40s.
I know people who own A40s go to MLG events and wireless is not allowed, but what about the majority of the people that just sit at home? To tell you the truth I don't hear much buzzing noises coming from the X41s. I do hear them here and there, but I don't mind because they are wireless. Why not come out with a wireless pair of headset for those who wants wireless?
I would gladly buy a new pair of Astros if they introduce a line of wireless headsets. Until then....I'll stick with the X41s because I got tired of the wires from the A40s. Love the A40s, but hate the wires. I'm sure there are plenty of others out there that feel the same. I'll also probably get bunch of replies saying they don't allow wireless at events and wired is so much better yadadadadadada.
Just give the best of both worlds and have a wireless for those who wants it and those who do not can stick with the wires.

If you are serious about gaming you use the astros. If you are not and are casual then use the turtle bitches(lol)
until wireless is perfected we won't see it from astro. I had tHe x41 and quite frankly they sucked, the wireless was not worth the money.
So until someone figures out how to deliver the same sound quality as a wired headset i don't want to see astro come out with a wireless headset.

I figure someone would post a reply similiar to yours. I'm just saying they should offer a wireless headset. If you want the wired buy the wired, but if others want the wireless buy the wireless. The X41s don't "suck" anyone playing with X41s can play just as good as those playing with A40s. You can pin point things that are happening just as good as the A40s. Of course the A40's sound quality is better than the X41s, but I prefer the wireless when playing at home.

If ASTRO came up with a wireless headset, it would not be of the same quality that the wired headset has. The sound quality that you seemed to have liked will not be the same with these wireless A40s that you want. I'm sure that ASTRO doesn't want to lessen the amazing quality that the A40s bring to the gaming world. In short, it will not happen unless they perfect wireless 5.1 Dolby Digital, which unfortunately will probably not happen for a while.

Compared to the a40s, the x41s do in fact suck, there is no comparison.
If you are just a casual gamer that doesn't like wires then the turtle beaches are a good option.
Serious gamers put up with wires because it provides the best quality, wireless simply doesn't measure up and I can't see wireless geting on the same level.
I don't see why Astro would offer a wireless headset if the goal of astro is to provide serious gamers with top of the line equipment.

Astro could make a good decent Wireless Headphone solution. But the problem is, all of their equipment is Tournament Quality. Which means if everyone used Wireless Headphones at a Tournament then there is going to be some big interference.
Anyway, as for wireless, all you would be doing is cutting one wire off.
You would still need the USB to power (Unless you use Batteries)
You would still need a Optical TOSLink
You would still need a Xbox Live Voice Communication Lead (Unless you are at a Tournament or PS3)
You would be cutting off the Quick Disconnect Cable to the Headset
My setup at the moment is
- Xbox 360 (Optical) - MixAMP - Headset + Xbox Controller
My setup wireless would be
- Xbox 360 (Optical) - MixAMP - Xbox Controller ))) Wireless Headset
Wouldn't be worth it in the long run.

I have to agree, wireless headphones are generally poop. They are also very expensive for anywhere near decent quality which also doesn't force you to connect via USB. That is an important part if you want to use a sound card, external DAC, or astro mixamp.
I am pretty sure they can make a wireless set, I also remember hearing about it actually being a real idea but I personally don't know if the market exists as most wired headphones sound better and are cheaper. Even as a casual gamer you could be annoyed by sound lag.
I am the type of person unaffected by input lag, but those affected by it are far and wide from casual to hardcore. Where it gets to the point that it annoys them. Same thing can happen with wireless sound where the sound is lagging behind the game to appear noticeable as your eyes and ears are not in full sync. Or lips speaking slightly out of sync. It can happen to wired headphones but is much more rare in comparison to wireless. Especially if you add that extra layer of audio processing the mixamp goes through. Which you don't notice on a wired set would add to the latency from a wireless transmission making it easier to notice.

In my opinion wireless sucks because there are so many things that can interfere with the signal no matter what frequency it is and honestly having alot of wires usually produces good quality sound.

For the Xbox 360, that would be great, as I'm currently using just a wireless controller. The wire at the bottom of the controller constantly gets in the way. I should try Nevermind's mod about moving it to the top end of the controller, but I need to get a wired controller first.

There is a reason that astro does not supply wireless headsets. Most people who buy astros are competetive and astro is also sponsered by MLG and if people were to bring there wireles astros to an mlg event the signals would begin to interfear with one another. Also astros are 300 dollars if they made them wireless they would have to charge around 500 dollars, in this economy, i dont think so.

I think Astro is missing out on a HUGE market by not coming out with a wireless system.
FAR MORE people play casually at home then play competitively on the road.
It is possible to make wireless headphones with NO loss in sound quality and NO possible interference. They would also not produce ANY background noise.......it's called infrared technology. Infrared transmission has the added bonus of being a lossless transmission. You get the FULL sound.....no compression. The only downside is you have to be within line of sight of the transmitter.......but who cares about that?
Yes infrared has been around a looooooong time. Why no one else seems to be utilizing it is beyond me. I say no one else because I've owned a Pioneer Wireless Dolby Headphone system since 2004 that uses infrared transmission.
They absolutely ROCK! No noise, no interference completely wireless. But they are just headphones......no mic.
Astro (or somebody) would just need to figure out how to add the microphone and make it work with each system.

How so?
They already have it for Dolby Headphone. The only missing variable is the mic. Might require three different answers to make it work with the 360, PS3 & PC's......but so what. Come out with Three different systems if you have to.
Only the hard core play on all three. "Most" people spend most of their time on one system.

Im with all the I want a wireless option. I'm not a professional gamer in that I don't go to tournaments and play, unfortunately I have a job, and I don't know anyone who is a pro gamer, and know anyone who knows someone who is a pro gamer, but I have tons of friends who play everyday and use headsets. I used to bragg about mine all the time, but its getting old real fast having this pile of jumbled up wires laying in my floor that is so big it won't even fit into the cabinet. I like to sit down on the couch while I play and have a 52 inch tv, so my cables are rather long.
Now the little spring door on the mixamp that holds the tos link cable broke off somehow, and since there is nothing that really holds that stupid cable in place I have to prop something underneath it to create this balancing act to get the stupid sting to stay in so I can hear, and the little knob on the mixamp which I thought was suppose to control the voices seperately doesn't do that at all, so I guess I have no idea what that thing is for. Now it seems something else is broken on the thing, because I can hear fine, but my mic isn't transmitting, oh and did I say there is a big giant pile of wires in my floor 24/7? Anyway, I guess I'm done ranting, they use to say they were working on a wireless option in the Q and A section, but I guess that was just BS. If I can find a headset that is wireless which has a mic option Im all over it, whether or not its top sound or not. I can deal with a little less quality for the convenience of not having this mess laying around.

Hey cybereyes,
Please be assured that we are listening to the voices of our casual gamers out there as well. We value the input that all of these gamers provide us, so thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Regarding the TOSLINK "door", you can submit a Support Ticket (http://www.astrogaming.com/support/)to have this worked on. I understand that can be a little frustrating.
With the communication knob not working, have you changed the "Voice Communication" settings on your xbox to use just the "Play through Headset" option, and not "Headset and Speakers"? An interesting thing that the Xbox will do, is even if it's set on "Headset" only, if there's no 2.5mm plug in the controller mic port, voice communications will play through the "Speaker" settings, or in the case of the MixAmp, whatever headphones you're running, as those are your speakers.
For the mic not working, it could a number of things. Please use the Support Team (http://www.astrogaming.com/support/)to see if they can pinpoint what the problem may be.
Finally, regarding the Q&A section and the wireless info: It's still there. It can be found under the "Product" drop down menu.
Q: Will you guys be offering a wireless solution any time soon?
A: That's the plan. But since we make professional, tournament-grade equipment, we need to develop a wireless solution that will stand up to the abuse of hundreds of simultaneous gamers in the same room -- a tall order. Once we have a solution to that, we'll cut the copper spaghetti-fest.

Thanks for responding, I will check on the support ticket think, it would be nice if I could get that fixed, as far as my mic not working, I think it may be the music fairy thing I have it connected to the playstation with, and yes I have a playstation, not an xbox, so does that advice on getting my communication know to work still apply? It would be totally awesome to have that work as well. There are lots of times I just want to turn down the screaming noise of other guys in my party, but not turn down the game sounds. I can hear their updates on enemy positions with the sound down a bit, but I don't want to miss out on some approaching footsteps. Im kind of like the guy above, I've been playing games since pretty much games became games. I remember when you pretty much had Pong as you only choice. I've always been a gamer and always will be, which is why I opted for the best in Astro instead of using those stupid little ear buds everyone is using now for games like MW2. So in short, it would be awesome to get a wireless option if it were possible because I don't see myself playing at any gaming tournaments anytime soon.

Just F.Y.I.
There are wireless options but they are not ideal.
I currently game on the PS3 with a pair of Pioneer Wireless Dobly Headphones. I have all of the game & chat audio going to the headphones. Then I simply hook the Sony bluetooth headset to the top of my shirt with the mic aiming up.
So I'm completely wireless and I can talk to and hear my friends. I'm also getting the Dolby Headphone effect and can really pick up where the enemy is coming from.
The reason it's not ideal is that I can't adjust the chat volume independently from the game volume. This means you have to go through a lot of trial and error before you hit upon the sweet spot for a given game. And that is assuming the game gives you the necessary options.

I can see where cables can be a hassel (in most cases, it's a when playing in a large living room, environment with pets/kids who may walk over them). At the same time, I know from trying out some wireless headsets before the quality compared to a wired system just isn't there. Then again, these were some older (RF) technologies from the late 90s.

Well I did order the Mixamp and Y-Adapter.....so I'm actually going from wireless to wired for one primary reason. To have the ability to adjust the game and chat volumes on the fly.
I'm about 12-14 feet from the TV ( 62" DLP) so it is a lot of cords. But, I also game in the evening after the kids have gone to bed so I'm really not bothering anyone.
Still, I don't think there is much argument that wireless would be nicer than wired.....if implemented properly.

With infrared it's a little tricky as you said it has to be in line and you shake that off but that little fact is crippling, it may be fine for you to have a setup like that but for many it's not, there're so many variables and an infrared system would not be able to cater for everyone and I'm sure sound quality would suffer.
Look man it was a nice idea and I'm not knocking it but as far as it is, wired is the best option.

It would be crippling for professional gamers yes, but not for 95% of home gamers. Put the transmitter in your stereo rack, or your TV stand, or on top of a speaker.....anywhere line of site to your sitting position. The range is about 40+ ft on my current setup......but I only sit about 12ft away.
How would sound quality suffer? It's a lossless transmission. There is no compression taking place. My current system has absolutely no background noise. The only hard part is making a mic work.
I see no reason why on the PS3 & many computers that you couldn't just implement a bluetooth mic.

What about things in peoples homes that could inter fear, that would interrupt, signals or an environment that proved disrupt full to the signal, infrared is great to send a quick simple signal but for a high quality highly detailed signal I can guarantee you that there would be more than 5% of people with a problem, please don't post statistics unless there is proof.
I see no reason why people should tailor their environment to suit their gaming audio system at the moment wired is the best option for all.

I think maybe your confused.
Infrared can't be interfered with by any other signals in your home. It's also a continuous signal, not a "quick simple one". It's is also an uncompressed signal. There is no loss of quality in the sound vs. being wired. I am currently (and for the last 5+years) using wireless infrared headphones with Dolby Headphone technology. This is what I've been using - Pioneer SE-XB1 (http://www.digitaltrends.com/product-reviews/mp3-player-reviews/headphone-reviews/pioneer-se-xb1-review/), Which are identical to the SE-DIR1000's.
There is nothing that interferes with the signal......unless I move out of the line of sight.

I would love a wireless option as well, especially after using a friends x41's for more than 3 hours without any crackle, popping or any other problem due to interference. I actually went with astro mixamp wired option to avoid any problems with interference wireless may cause with my setup, but now I'm having problem with the cheap wires for my wired astro mixamp. Y-adapter DOA after waiting for it to come in stock after getting a bad batch and I still got a bad one. I'm scared to touch that cheap feeling chat cable which I know will break after some real use as well.
However the other reasons i chose astro will make me pause on a wireless option which are being able to use any audiophile headphone I want, and it being compatible with both PS3 and Xbox 360 out of the box. For the x41's to work fully with ps3 I would've needed a usb sound cord, and a 2.5mm to 3.5 mm adapter to run line from chat cable to sound card, not wireless anymore. So if wireless option comes out please keep full ps3/xbox 360 out the box as is now. Although I blame Microsoft it seems something must connect to controller port to chat.

no wireless!
Simple solution.... Dont buy it. Not making something that will benefit a much larger crowd because a few people in the smaller crowd thinks that they wouldn't want to use it just doesn't make much sense. I don't see why there can't be a system with a blue tooth solution for the mic and maybe a infrared deal for the sound. Wireless technology has came such a long way over the years I can't imagine that a company as dedicated to top quality sound as astro has been hasn't already came up with a wireless option. I guess the pro gaming business is very lucrative, hopefully for them it stays that way or no one comes along and develops a top notch wireless solution for pro gaming and changes the way things are done. Probably some company that has been dealing in wireless options for years and over trial and error came up with the deal winner.

The x41's have issues with wireless routers. The wireless signals are very similar therefore you'll have RFI/EMI interference.

I have the x4z at the moment and it is so annoying with wireless in my opinion becuase i have to change the batterys quite frequently and when they are running low it makes a very disturbing noise, so i think i may purchase the A40s
