I was just reading this review: http://gear.ign.com/articles/114/1146064p1.html when I saw this:
"Their solution was deceptively simple; keep the design largely the same, but make tweaks to the ear padding to squeeze better bass performance out of the A40's Dolby Headphone stereo drivers, and make older versions upgradable by offering the new ear pads and microphone separately for $19.95. "
Did you guys already know about this and I just missed it?
$20 is a great price for the update if this information is correct....and at that price, it will be a no-brainer upgrade for me!

That would be awesome if it only cost $20, but I think it will be more since replacement mics and pads are normally like $20 each :/. Here's for hoping though!

Ah $20/each makes a lot more sense. I am hoping they will still give us "December guys" a discount, but I won't complain if they don't.

Heh, you guys are great at finding things. Didn't even see this through my twitter feed (and that usually covers everything ASTRO related... except I also get those stupid freeway updates in the UK (A40 and A30 freeways! Curse you!)).
Checking in on the validity of that report. =)

Hrm, realized while reading the article that most of you failed at English comprehension (only kidding).
"Their solution was deceptively simple; keep the design largely the same, but make tweaks to the ear padding to squeeze better bass performance out of the A40's Dolby Headphone stereo drivers, and make older versions upgradable by offering the new ear pads and microphone separately for $19.95. "
The word separately is key. IGN was probably looking at the accessories section currently on the site and saw the available replacement pads and replacement mic, and the price of $19.95 for each one of those. Pricing info on the "Tournament Edition" A40 2011 Upgrade to come!

Haha, I didn't even read through the article. Anyways, $29.95 for the kit = c-c-c-combo!

A Lunatiik- So where did u c the 29.95 price tag at? or are u just hoping?

I based it off Warblade's reasoning and 'guess'. Individually, replacement Mics and Ear cup pairs cost $19.95 so the tournament upgrade combines those and it would make sense to sell at $29.95 for the combo (ASTRO does combo pricing on the audio systems so it wouldn't be abnormal).

im not really gonna cry abut the price even if its $40 because ASTRO could been like 1 of the many conmpanys that said F the customer. if they want the new edition they can spend another $200 on a heaset .for the fact that they took the time to make a newer headset that all the upgrades are compatible with older A40. i give them SUPER THUMBS UP for not being money hungry A-holes :D
