I've got both settings on my Xbox and both seem to work with the MixAmp. I've read that WMA Pro is better quality, but I was wondering what the Astro recommended setting was?

Personally the WMA Pro only affects the Windows Media Center and Music on the Dashboard.

I would personally choose the Dolby Digital 5.1 (Without WMA Pro) as it doesn't affect games so turning this feature off wouldn't make a differents and just to make sure that the Astro A40's have a supported Audio Type.

Hi starskythehutch,

Thanks TheHyperVertigo for your help and response! Like TheHyperVertigo said, you want to stick with Dolby Digital 5.1 and not WMA Pro. Hope this helps!

More than llikely a useless protected high quality or lossless audio format that no one uses outside of microsoft. Some recievers have support for it but I wouldn't get anything based on support just for this.

They have normal WMA as well, which is any audio file encoded with a windows encoder. Just like encoding video with a windows codec results in a .WMV file.
