So i just got my new A40 system today, go to plug it in my computer, start up my favorite music program, and the audio only plays through one ear.. I try the dirrect connect cable (The speaker/mic stereo hookup cable) and it works fine, So it's not the headphones... Anyone had this issue or is the mixamp screwed? :(

your mixamp is meant to take the audio from a game and the directional information and play it through the appropriate speaker (the mixamp uses 5.1 surround sound processing), most music programs only work on a stereo basis and not a surround sound basis, you could try switching the playback on your music program to surround sound other than that you are going to have to mix your music through the 3.5mm MP3 port on the mixamp.

Is the game audio being sent via digital audio or stereo cable?

if it works being plugged into the MP3 port you may just have to use that method.

When you plug it into your computer with the MixAMP what are you using?

You should only set the USB MixAMP to provide Power and Voice Communication while the Dolby Digital Optical Cable will deliver sound. If you do not have this, I believe there is a cable which will let you use your Headphones without the MIXAMP and it will plug straight into the Green slot on the back of the computer or front.

The Mixamp Comes with a 3mm (1/8th Inch) to RCA Cables, You can use this cable from your PC Speaker Out to the Mixamps RCA Ports on the back, if you do not have a TOS-Link.

Ok.. sorry for the lack of info... Had a major storm that knocked power out last night.

I've connected the Mixamp using the USB connection.. I have determined it is the mixamp, becuase if i apply pressure to the plug in a certain direction i get full sound. I have also tried all the cord in different audio devices adn they work fine, So i was defiantly shipped a defective Mixamp :(

one thing that works for me that you could try using, is the usb cable they give you, plug it into your pc, unplug any other audio devices that're plugged into your pc, restart your pc, the dial at the bottom that says Game & Voice, the closer your turn it to voice the more audio you should pick up for some reason that's what mine does, the usb cable will recieve audio and send audio, as long as you goto your sound option/manage audio devices and select Astro Gaming Headset & Astro Gaming Microphone for sound & recording.
