first off id like to say that i LOVE your product and that i am finally getting a set for Christmas this year. however, i have 2 questions regarding cables.
1st. can any optical audio cable work with the astro mix amp or does it need to be the specific kind you buy here. also is there any sound degradation.
2nd. how long is the actual power cable? i have a home theatre set up and i need about ten feet so that i can keep my amp pluged into my 360. if it is not long enough, can i go to like radio shack and buy a longer usb cable? is there any special thing i need to know about it?
As i said earlier i LOVE the astro a40. as an avid MW2 player i know the importance of being able to hear everything around you and this head set delivers the goods!!!!

1: A normal Optical cable should work... I would recommend a 2.5mm or something a little bigger... And no... None that I have noticed...
2: I am assuming you are talking about the power cable for the Mix amp... It is 2.5mm or so, and it doesn't actually need to be plugged into the 360... You can plug it into anything that has a USB port... (a computer, iPod wall plug thing... etc.) There is nothing really special about the cable, just the fact that it doesn't need to go into the 360...
I hope this has helped... Good luck!

you can use any TOSLINK opticle cable with the A40 system.
the usb cable isn't 10 feet i know that much, you can either buy a longer usb to mini usb cable or buy a usb extension cable and use it in conjunction with the usb to mini usb cable that comes with the system.

hmmm some good ideas all around. i think ill just order the TOSLINK optical cable through astro (ill get the 12 foot one). as for set up is concerned, you should have your mix amp within arms reach correct? idk how long the cable for the controller to the amp is so i figure itl need to be close so you can adjust the volume and not need to lean or anything. as for my streched power setup i looked online and they do make usb "extenders" soo ill just use that and save some money instead of buying one BIG usb to usb mini cord.

Since it uses USB to power concerning 360 use might possibly look into power outlet adapters for USB if you sit near any wall outlets

Hi Public Brutality,
Everyone's advice here is solid (thanks guys!).
You can also use any USB cable that fits with our MixAmp, any USB power source, use our rechargeable battery pack (http://www.astrogaming.com/products/detail/13/USB-Rechargeable-Battery-Pack/), or 4x AA batteries.
Additionally, you can get a longer TOSlink optical cable (http://www.astrogaming.com/products/detail/14/Toslink-Cable/) from our accessories store.
Hope this helps!
