Just curious if any of the staff members have thought about it, and maybe even tried to design one... Just curious... Any staff member want to comment?
Personally I think that it would look, and be awesome... IMO I think that an Astro Gaming Cover for the xbox selling at like $20-$30 would be worth the money... Any thoughts?

it'd have to be an actual after market shell.

no dodgy stickers.

I'd buy one :)

I take my 360 apart fro cleaning every 6 months and have done some mods, a Astro Gaming case would be awesome.

Me too! I think that STANIMAL (Yes, I'm talking to you!) should read this thread and consider it. And yeah, an actual 360 Xbox LE Astro Gaming Console would be hard, but a cover would be nice, and agreed... NO STICKERZ...

I think this would be a cool idea. Maybe black and white to begin with and other colors that match with limited edition a40s.

I came up with a quick edit of an Elite...I think that if it was designed like the boxes the headphones are shipped in, that would be awesome.

THIS!!! It looks cool... I'm still not saying like a totally new console, but like a "shell" or cover for it... A new console wouldn't sell because people buying a new Xbox 360 probably don't know what Astro is... But a cover for people like us would be awesome!

I agree a new console probably would be a flop and have lots od red tape to get through to get it off the ground. A console case would be awesome and a step down i would not be dissapointed in seeing Astro Faceplates.

Customers would have to know that opening their console voids their warranty.

Astro gaming having worked with microsofts xbox360 department before could work in conjunction for people who want to retain their warranty so that they can send in their console and have microsoft change the shell for them or astro gaming could write up some sort of agreement/contract that allows them to work on 360's and the console would still retain its warranty, send it in to astro gaming and have them change the shell.

it's alot of red tape and negotiations that could take a while for the process to become a legit thing but after market cases are sold all the time.

I don't see why astro gaming couldn't put them into production as a third party product other than conflicting issues with microsoft which could infringe on any agreements the two companies have at the moment.

I can see how Astro gaming could work out an agreement with Microsoft so that people could send the Xbox's in, and have them replace the shell for a reasonable price... Now Microsoft might not want to do this because it would be something that they couldn't make a profit out of... But I still think that it would be awesome if they were able to pull this off...

They could have that option for people wanting to keep their warranty or for people who don't know how to take apart a 360 but they could also market it as a 3rd party product people like me could buy outright and change it over themselves.

Having people send their xbox in to microsoft or astro for case replacement would be to much of a hassle. First microsoft and Astro would not cover the shipping cost. So depending on the box size, who you use to ship and how fast you want to ship it the shipping cost is going to be anywhere from $10 to $40 one way. So before you even have a new case you are going to be spending $20 to $80 shipping.

I think that many people who end up purchasing custom case usually do not care about a warranty. A limited run of custom cases would be the only way to determine its popularity. The easier option for Astro and customers would be simply to make custom faceplates, disk drive covers, or controllers paintjobs.

I agree too... didn't really think it through when I posted... but you also have to take into account that some people don't know how to take the covers off... but then again that could just be a simple youtube video... so... I think that a "buy and put on yourself" is the kinda deal that would be going on... Also about the LE... that's what it would be anyways... not like a mass manufacturing of it, but something that only a certain amount of people got...

Ok, How about this, for a test on a smaller scale they could release custom wired 360 and PS3 controllers (remembering out PS3 friends).

If not the entire controller just a custom Astro themed case that the customer could fit themselves, the controller shell could be bundled with instructions on how to take apart the corresponding controlelr and reassemble with the new case. This would void the warranty on the controller but they are much simpler and requires much less know how.

For our PC gamers I'm not sure what could be done, most use their own hardware and there isn't a universal product they all use.....maybe an Astro mousepad?...Everyone would want one......ummmmm
Any ideas for something along those lines for our PC gamers?

How about something like a custom mouse or something... I would probably get one of those...

But about the 360 controller and PS3 controller... SOUNDS AWESOME! I absolutely agree... It would give them a sense as to how many people are interested in getting something like that...

But then... what about those PSP gamers? I mean, I still play my PSP... Love it, and probably always will... what could the come out with for them?

you can use your astros with a PSP?

And most PC gamers prefer to use their own equipment, some pay a fairly large amount on a gaming mouse, and there is no way they all sue the same one.

Now, if astro broke into the Market on Mice and Keyboards, things could get interesting. Right Now, Razer and Steelseries are the dominant players in the gaming peripheral PC WORLD, Mice, Mousepads, Keyboards. However, this could be a good Field for ASTRO to do some research and get into. By the quality of the A40 system alone, (and all the bags) their mice, and keyboards would last forever, and be amazing.

+1 Great Ideas!

Actually yes... I was very surprised... I mean you can't talk into it (obviously), but yeah... I wouldn't have tried it if my headphones didn't die (RIP)...
And that's true about the PC gamers... they would use only their own and what they know best...

If it were, it would be a package with 3-5 stickers that would have to be put on... so... yeah, wouldn't be made... but Astro should look into the cover for 360, PS3 (if possible) and something for PC gamers

I do believe that most of us do know that. The suggestion is for a xbox case, skin, or faceplate designed toward the Astro Pro Gaming Equipment line.

skin? no, i wouldn't go for it. doesn't appeal to me.

I'd make an astro case before I put a bunch of stickers on something.

I would prefer a case however like most i dont want to void my warranty. I have no problem working on a console but now having an elite from my understanding is a lifetime warranty now.

A skin could be alright but it would need to be a full skin with no old case showing through otherwise it doesnt look right. I would be in for either though.

Thanks.

All consoles have a 3 Year Warranty on RROD and E Errors from purchase. If you loose the receipt then its three years from when it was manufactured (By the Serial Number on the back of the console).

Of course I have three suggestions.

- ASTRO Gaming Faceplate
- ASTRO Gaming Stickers
- ASTRO Gaming Theme (Skin)

Microsoft tries to sue anyone they can who voids the Xbox 360 Console. If ASTRO went to make a full case mod then they would be in trouble. Although they could make a Faceplate as that it user configurable.

Wait 3 year warranty? i thought it was 1 year warranty with purchase and i think you have to pay like $100 for extra 2 year warranty.

Here are some Microsoft Quotes from a couple of years ago.

On July 5, 2007, the Vice-President of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business division published an open letter recognizing the console's problems, as well as announcing a three-year warranty extension for every Xbox 360 console that experiences the "general hardware failure" indicated by three flashing red LEDs on the console.

An E74 error is indicated when the lower-right quadrant of the ring indicator flashes red and displays an error message in multiple languages: "E74 System Error. Contact Xbox Customer Support". The error is caused when there's a video problem, because the Xbox 360's hardware scaler chip is damaged. As of April 14, 2009, the E74 error is now covered by the three-year extended warranty, and customers who previously paid Microsoft for out-of-warranty service to correct the E74 error will receive a refund.

Ever since Micro$oft started getting a whole bunch of red rings on there XBOX's they extended every console's warranty out to three years. I should be thankful because just last month I got the three rings of death and I was one month away from being three years. I got real lucky.

Cheers...

Same here.

I wouldn't go for any skins, but a custom case or at the very minimum, a custom faceplate would rock.
