Im sure there is a thread out there for this but Im new to the site so I wanted input.

As for the Gunnar Optiks, do they really make a difference? Im in avaition and I game. I want to use them for my job. I fly planes from a computer (UAS unmanned arial systems). I stare at a conputer screen for 8-12 hours a day. The lightening isnt so good in the box I fly them from. After Im done flying I am on my Asus computer for like 4 hours surfing and what not. To wrap up my day I get down on some MW2. I dont really notice eye fatigue right now and I very rarely get headaches, maybe once a week if that. Since eye strain and headaches arent really a problem right now would they Optiks be good for me? I wear a David Clark headset (kinda the same size as the A40s) will this be comfortable? Which lense is better for low light or does it matter? Sorry for all the questions Im just curious to what and how they could benefit me.

Thx advance for the reply!

I use the Marley's from the Metallic collection for work and I use the Stylus from the Sphere collection for home use. I notice a big difference in my 11's (the bridge between my eyes and eye brows). Without the glasses after like about 6 hours at staring at wiring diagrams on the computer my 11's are squinted up hard and my pupils are red and inflamed without the Gunnars. You may not actually think you are straining your eyes but the effects are there after long usage of looking at computer screens because in most instances we are focused on a particular point on the screen. The effects are gradual and not noticeable until maybe the end of the day. After a long day go look at your pupils and the muscles around your eyes in a mirror and see what they look like. I bet 9 out of 10 times they are red, dilated and dry. The muscles around your eyes are most likely tensed up. That's called eye fatigue and the Gunnars help reduce that. The Spheres are really nice but they set me back $190. So they can be a bit pricey but your eyes will thank you for them at the end of the day. I hope this helped you a bit. It's the best description I could think of. Also if you are looking at a particular pair some of them have a little picture under the description of a set of headphones. That means the arms of the glasses don't interfere with a headset. My Marley's are headset compatible. :)

Cheers...

I too have some Gunnar Optik's glasses (MLG Phantoms). They work great for reducing eye-strain, especially in low-light situations where you're viewing a screen for prolong periods of time. They also have a slight magnification to it, which I enjoy since it makes my screen just a tad bigger (and I haven't updated my contact lens prescription in a year & a 1/2, so it's a little weak).

The really great thing about the MLG Phantoms is that the arms of the glasses are flat (think of how a popsicle stick is). It helps so when whatever headset you're wearing pushes against your head, that it doesn't protrude too much into the cushioning, and therefore break the air pocket/seal for the headphones. Brilliant thinking.

Has anybody bought anything from there lineup on outdoor glasses? I need a pair so while in the car driving or out and about. Or should I just stick to Oakleys for outdoorware?

Oh man, I have to jump in on this one despite it being off topic. You will not regret getting these. I've had two pair over the years, the first I bought a few months after they came out back in '99, and still have both of them after regular wearing. You'll want to swap out the lenses occasionally, but at $60-$80 for a replacement set, maintenance is easy to do.

I've also got a pair of the Pit Boss from the new collection. Much lighter than the Juliets, but you've got to baby them a bit.

Hah, all this talk of Oakley glasses. =P (I own a cheap pair of Flak Jacket, non-polarized, love em).

Looks like Gunnar has some new glasses (http://www.gunnars.com/gunnar_indoor_collection.php)now, though they went with Steelseries for their latest ESport collection.

I used to have THESE (http://gargoyles-store.mwrc.net/en/product.php?product_id=26172) but a friend of mine sat on them and broke them. They were pretty nice but I've always wanted a pair of Oakleys. :)

By the way, that movie rocks. The video games molded after Riddick suck but the movie is rock solid. :)

It's late, because you ordered em, but I love my gunnars. I have MLG Phantoms, and the second I figured out what they did I wanted them. I have horribly week eyes, and they just helped a lot.. that's all I can say. Acid and people are right, you may not notice that your eyes are damaged, or you'll be like me, and get headaches easily, the whole shibang.
