View Full Version : Capture Card Question (Using a Monitor)
Hello,
I was interested in buying a capture card so I could upload videos to YouTube and for disputes on GB's. The problem I see is that I use a computer monitor for my 360 As seen here, my monitor. (http://www.lg.com/us/computer-products/monitors/LG-lcd-monitor-W2361V-PF.jsp) The capture cards I see use component cables which I can not use, I need to use VGA for the monitor.
Is there a capture card out there I can use with this setup or a way around it?
Thank you.

Hey,
At the moment capture cards use Composite, Component and HDMI. There isn't a capture card that uses VGA at this time so you are out of luck unless you get a new monitor that can use either Composite ,Component or/and HDMI.

You don't have to record games live. You can just play the games then hook up your xbox to capture card and upload the saved videos then. That's what I use to do
Darn, that sucks.
Thanks though buddy.
@Socks,
I don't quite understand what you are saying. Nor do I see how this would work. Care to elaborate?
EDIT: I think I know what you are saying, but that would only work for Halo. Unless, I am getting the wrong impression.

Yes this method would only work for Halo as you wouldn't mind the delay on the capture card, as you are watching the film through theater. Although on other games you would need to play live and you couldn't play while plugged directly into a capture card, as there would be about a 5 second day.

I never had a delay? Weird that this happens

If you play directly in the capture card preview on your computer, you should experience at least a little delay. That's why you would have to split the signal into your capture card and your TV/Monitor.
What capture card are you using?

i looked at ur link on the monitor and did some research on it...are you sure ur using VGA? that monitor has HDMI and DVI inputs...(from what im reading on reviews...i dont have that monitor, so i could be wrong). Depending on your PC rig, if it can handle the Blackmagic Intensity (Shuttle or Pro). both these cards have pass through of HDMI...if your using xbox (HDMI in HDMI out to monitor) ps3 (has to be component {unless with a converter as i use} in and HDMI out. and the DVI input, i guessing your using for the PC connection. i know this might be confusing, but i hope it helps
