yes! typically i go from the full tags to just open to avoid having to change the foam... i use my headphones when i study or read for class (grad school) during the day, then i switch over to my mic setup when i game at night.

just don't use the tags.. There you won't have to worry about the foam inserts..., worry about switching tags all the time, and worry about scratching/messing up the tags at all. I would only use tags at major LANs & events.
