Hey everyone,

ASTRO Community Gaming Nights (ACGN) are back! ACGN's are a time where the ASTRO forum and friends can get together for a fun time of online gaming. The games will vary from week to week, and should give a variety of options for those who aren't down for only FPS games (though that will probably be our mainstay, there could be more "chill" nights of playing the Skate series, Need for Speed Racing, or even some good ol' XboxLiveArcade games). Since I'll be running most of this, most nights will be done on the Xbox 360 for gaming, but as we grow I may look to having some of our PS3 users host a night for that community, and we could even try some throw back to the PC/Steam world every couple of months.

Please Note, as a change and due to poll results, the ACGN have been changed to a Saturday night. Because of this, it has also changed to be scheduled for every other week.

I would have tried to schedule the first ACGN for this weekend, but heading up to Napa to celebrate my 3 year wedding anniversary with the wife. =P

So now ya'll got a week to sign up! =P We'll be playing Halo 3 customs (or if we don't have enough people, we can play Big Team Slayer).

If you also have suggestions for upcoming games to play as a community, feel free to post your ideas, or PM me them.

I might be able to attend this game night, but i'm unsure as my plans always change. Anyway, on a side note you might want to add the time zone to your post so people won't get confused. If your in the UK and this is pacific time, its going to be at like 3am for you.

Yeah, we're going to try hard to accommodate our UK friends for certain dates, as well as these nights may be moved to a weekday (as I'm sure we all like to party hard on the weekend ;) ).

AND I just realized the wedding I'm attending on the 28th starts at 4pm! =P So this may have to be moved up initially too. haha. Updates to the main post coming in a few.

I am really good friends with the manager, he will usually save stuff like pre order bonuses and stuff or save accessories like these until I can afford them.
Originally I wasn't going to buy these until launch so he was going to save them until launch.
Usually the policy is only 2 days.

Not only is he an amazing friend, he usually goes out of his way as a manager to help people.

We had a good time for our 1st ACGN. Thanks for coming out. Think we ended up having about 7 or 8 total people come out to play. Started out with some match making, then jumped into some customs with Alpha running the show with some pretty interesting game types. It was my first time playing a few of those, but I'm definitely going to be saving those for some fun LAN times, or hoping someone makes them again for Reach. =P (The garbage chute and the zniper were hilarious!)

Thanks for coming out! The thread has been updated for Sept 3rd, but unfortunately there's no ACGN as I'll be away at PAX. If you're coming out, let us know, we'd love for you to stop by the booth and say hello!

Very fun game night indeed.

I enjoyed the Zombie Map as well as the Zniper. I will try and get some clips recorded of DBaker running around the base twice looking for the flag point.

Next time no guest Alpha :p. Silly person boosting achievements :rolleyes:

Anyway guess we will all meet up for Halo Reach if we are getting it. Thanks for the community night Warblade.

Also, my friend Like 60 bunnies wants to know if he can join the next ACCGN.
ACGN's are for ASTRO forum members and their friends, as long as there's space, we're good. I don't foresee us going over our max players list atleast for a few months, so friends are definitely invited. =) Just let me know that there coming out, or if we have space that day, throw an invite to them.

Our next ACGN is MW2, and while we can't do that many customs, we can still throw in some weird fun into the mix with things like third-person mode, headshots only, no-killstreaks, and shields only (if only that can be forced, heh).

Then it's onward to Halo Reach! Fun times ahead!

And with Reach coming, we should see some amazing maps.
Halo 3 Forge held a lot of players back from using the system, but hopefully we should see some full fledged maps.

I MIGHT buy Bungie Pro again when Reach comes out, I will render the video then if no one has done it.

Speedmods were patched ages ago by doing a host check before the game same with Aimbots, and the game was patched to slow down the guns a touch to stop Rapid Fire Mods.

Brought back from the grave of almost 3 months!

Our ACGN has changed to Saturday nights (though it's difficult for me to make some of these due to weddings and events...). We're relaunchng this in just 2 weeks and playing Call of Duty: Black Ops! (Now I know some of you don't like Black Ops, and even returned/sold your copies after playing through it, but it's still one of the biggest blockbusters in gaming this year. And we'll have some fun with customs as well. I just wish JD_2020 would enable a checkbox for No Primary weapons, or two secondaries in customs. =P)

There's a lot of west coast gamers, so you shouldn't have a problem with timing. You should edit your signature to include your gamertag (go to the User CP) or Edit your above post to include it.

I'm west coast as well, so 1am EST is more of an optimal time for me, but then that would be around 6am for our UK players, and pretty late for our East (Beast) coast guys. 7pm PST/10pm EST/3am UK seems to work out ok for us.

7pm Pacific. I imagine we'll just do multiplayer or private matches depending on how many people there are. Gotta pre-setup some custom games for fun too, heh. It's still too bad they haven't allowed for two secondaries or no primary weapon slot yet.

I don't think there is enough interest from the PS3 user base to have a gaming night yet. Maybe a thread promoting one would draw more interest/attention so it could be hosted?

We need to make another couple of threads with some various questions to find out what the community has and doesn't have. Then maybe another thread asking if they get the new big releases on the day.

Good community night. I enjoyed it!

Shamefully I was tired and couldn't stay up later then 4:00am :D. Maybe next time I will get some sleep (or drink some energy drinks) before the community night starts so I can stay up longer.

Agreed, It was a good night to game. I enjoyed it very much. It seems everybody else was high level and I was not. I guess I need to get my game on more. :eek: Anyways, thanks for being there Mitch. Hopefully we can do it again sometime soon.

Hey guys, I want to take the time to apologize for not showing up. Although I think my reasons are good I still felt really bad, anyways long story short, as some of you may know I recently moved into a new home and my mom was really excited to get the fireplace going for us since its getting cold down here in Arizona. Well, as we've never had a fire place we didn't realize we needed to open the flute, we didn't... smoke was everywhere and our house had to be evacuated from all the fumes. So that was my new years night guys :) not too shabby but next time we have a ACGN I'm sooooo down. Hope you all understand and I hope to get to finally game with all you peeps :D Happy new years and have a wonderful gaming experience of 2011.

Thanks for coming out guys, it was fun. I'll work on tweaking that "Cowboys Vs. Indian" mode to make it better next time. =P It was a little one sided for cowboys, even with the speed Indians got, haha.

Doom 3 had multiplayer? Strangely, I don't remember it. =P

I'd be down to play TF2 or Quake Live! hehe.

They prefer CoD so that's what we play. I'm not that fond of Reach since it's so different from Halo 3, but I'm slowly getting used to it. I'm terrible in Reach compared to how I played in H3 :/.

Anyways, I've always had the most fun playing Team Snipes (my first 50 :D) and MLG, so I love playing competitively and to win. Whenever I spend time with my friends online it's mostly social games so I know how to chill too :cool:

Reason is because my ISP are starting some upgrades to our modems (should be finished in the morning) to prepare them for 100mbps in the coming months and due to that, my connection has gone slow and I'm getting some major packet loss (not good for gaming :(). I ref rental players to make sure they dont do anything stupid :p

I get a $12 voucher for anything in the store and a free play pass and a paint discount, so reffing for 4 hours lets me play for free :)
I pay maybe $5 for paint every month

I play pistol so I dont waste very much.

nice. i remember the days paying about $75/month and shot all the paint i wanted to during practice. damn, i really need to get back to it.
