Hey everyone I'm wanting to run my A40 system through a receiver so I don't have to change cables every time I want to switch systems or to my pc. Right now all the receivers I am looking at are like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882120155 and do not have an optical out. I know I can run the sound through the component out but I am wanting to run the video through the hdmi out. I'm wondering if it will let me run through two separate outputs? I'm thinking no because the component and hdmi outs are two separate channels, but I wanted to see if anyone has tried it. It would be great if the mini amp had an hdmi in then I could split the out from the receiver but it does not. I'm not sure if a usb port would work either, and I doubt the sound would be that great. I know it seems weird for me to want to use the A40 when I have a surround system but I'm trying to find something for late at night that won't keep up my neighbors and will let me keep sound levels where I want them and without me having to spend 5 mins rewiring everything. I also would like to avoid just using the headphone jack on my tv and pc since I know the component is better quality.

I have an Onkyo receiver and all you have to do is switch it pass all audio through the receiver without processing it. It should have a direct pass feature as mine does. Plug your hdmi from the 360 to your receiver and by the way, toslink/optical is bi-directional so just plug the optical from the 360 to the receiver and then another out to the mixamp. Now all you have to do is click on or off the direct pass through to go either speakers or mixamp. Hope this helps.

Cheers...

That works great for me and a friend. You can have both on, or just have either one at any time, and there's no cable switching.
