The a40's are dominating the gaming headset world right now with some of the latest 5.1-channel Dolby Headphone technology. I would think that right now astro is tryin to expand its horizons to other products that the gaming world needs. I might be wrong though.

I really think that Astro should look into making wired controllers.

We all know that XBox has been making controllers that have a sometimes questionable durability and build. Astro could make a lot of money off of a solid third party wired controller.

If there was a Next-Gen Headset, wireless would be amazingly convenient.

I love my A40s... and the ONLY complaint is the clutter of wires I must clean up. And yes, I must put them away after every gaming session or the wife starts nagging.

Wireless FTW... if it's even technologically possible - the sound quality from the A40s is outstanding and I wouldn't want to compromise that for wireless.

I'm not sure how wireless would work because it wouldn't make use of the mixamp. They need to keep the mixamp on the market so I doubt the next headset will be wireless.

Wireless headsets need a receiver and something with volume control still, which would certainly force users to have a mixamp or otherwise make the headphones useless.

To me it seems quite the opposite of what you said, wireless would force users into buying a mixamp, sort of like the wireless turtle beach headsets, which I think Astro doesn't want to force users into.

Also, from my experience wireless headsets are either infrared with poor range and reception (Turtle Beach) or bluetooth which lacks depth and loses quality in the sound from my experience.

It seems the same as wired controllers that MLG players prefer, sure wireless is handy but when it comes down to having a competitive edge having wired things for the fastest response time of the sound is a must, and as these are meant to be competitive headphones, I sort of doubt it will go wireless.

I personally would love wireless though after all this crap I just posted haha, I hate seeing wires and I always roll over my headphones cable with my chair :[

Well that would mean they would design a receiver or module or something that would connect to the mixamp...that's what I already thought and it seemed to impractical imo. To require you to get that and the mixamp for wireless headset. And the other way is if they designed a completely new mixamp. The thing is the A40 isn't much special without the mixamp, so you basically need it to get everything out of the A40. I just don't think they'd do wireless.

I don't think a wireless headset would be as excellent performanc-wise as a wired one. Also, I think Astro should work on other gear besides headsets.

So far, with the A40 and Mixamp, Astro is looking to be the place for *real*, professional gaming gear. And I don't mean like Razer (although they have GREAT mice) or SteelSeries. I would expect aything from Astro to be the absolute best, regardless of price, with nothing else that could compare in terms of performace.

At least, that's what I see. But I'm just Commander Galaxy, and I'll only be ruling the Universe. Astro may be thinking differently.

the people that aren't pro would want wireless, but wireless isn't already allowed for MLG. with astro having an MLG version of the headset, sponsoring also, then a new product or headset I'm sure would accommodate MLG as well.

I prefer a wired set ... I hate dealing with batteries and annoying interferences that can occur with other wireless items in a home ...

I'm sure a lot of people would disagree with me, but I'd rather have a wired than wireless the vast majority of the time. Less interference, higher bandwidth. :) Speakers, internet, headphones, controllers all fall in the "wired" category when possible. :) (I have wireless for my laptops and iPhone, but my PCs and game systems are wired)

I agree with Galaxy, I prefer nearly all my electronics to be wired over wireless (controller, internet, mouse, headset, etc.) just because the performance is nearly always better, and I don't really like battery's. But this is my opinion, and I know people like to have "wires freedom", but personally it doesn't really bother me.
