Yeah it seems possible. If you look at the BETA it says that it has to be 5MB or less. So as long as your in those boundaries you should be fine. I wanted to make some custom tags but I don't have any ideas. Anyone have any?

The original background color is probably glossy. Your print is gonna have a matte feel, just feel the logo on the current tags.

You could probably quite easily (if you have the skills and trust yourself) go buy a can of clear coat and spray that over the tag and you will get a real glossy finish that I'm sure would give you the desired look.

isn't it just a few basic shapes? Combining geometrical shapes is not infringement.

You could tweak it, make it from scratch in photoshop, and at least get a very similar idea?

I really wanted to use my logo for some customized tags, but there was a background color on my logo or something that I didn't want screwing up the tags. So.. right now I'm paying my friend for a different logo, 'cause I suck at making em :P

Made some custom tags on my lunch break in photoshop. They depict my clan tag and gamertag...I think I might bite the bullet and order them. Or maybe I'll wait until I actually get my A40's (on order)... :)

Looking great! Just make sure they're in 300 DPI when you put them on our custom tag template and you're good to go.

I wanted to try and create some custom tags but I've read about using copyright material is a nono. I've drawn up one side so far and while it's based off Space Invader's character it's hand drawn. I wanted to show this piece in it's still w.i.p to firstly see whether this could still be produced even if it is originally based on a sprite.

Your own art should be fine from the copyright angle. To be honest, your own art looks pretty flippin' sweet and I think it'd be so much cooler than just the original space invader because you made it yourself!

Photoshop is a program that lets you edit graphics/images, etc. The template file is a .psd which is openable in Photoshop.

IF your asking "How do I get my pictures to open up in photoshop?" I just go to file<open and go and pick out a picture of whatever you want.
You have to save the pictures as a .JPEG or .JPG or something like that if you wana be able to make a custom tag.

the only bad thing I have to say about that is that the top right brushes look like they were swished. When your using free-transform hold shift and it keeps the ratio.

Definately. One question though.. How long did it take to get the tags from the day you ordered them to the day you got them. I ordered mine last week on Saturday night and I havn't even gotten a shipping number :O They must be swamped or something, but ya I will definately post a couple pics of my new headset :D
Also the detail of the pic is much better, but since the size is way over the limit I guess the quality must have been reduced.

I believe that they start doing all the shipping stuff on Mondays (Because you did the order on a Saturday). So, they may be backed up to the point where.. yeah.. I don't know, I don't speak for ASTRO so I don't know for sure but if you haven't received a tracking number (like me) just send in a support email like I did. It may be shipped just they were backed up enough to unfortunately forget to give a shipping number. Mine was shipped and I didn't have one until I asked about it.

I am one of the designers at Astro, and I actually did this as a test, to see what the printers were capable of. I went thru the same Customizer as you guys do. I wanted to test how thin the lines could be and how it could replicate fine curves. As you can see, some of the finer details may not translate because the text i uploaded was too fine. Also, I wanted to see how the ink would lay on the polished plastic. There is a bit of banding as you can see, but overall, I think it turned out pretty good. To avoid this, be weary of using a solid black in the image.

As for techincal details, I did the design as a reverse-cut out so that the graphic is empty. Saved at as a .png to preserve the transparency. Uploaded it to the Customizer... and thas it!

No, you can do it now. The polished tags are finish of the OEM Astro tags you get w. the headset. Alrighty, here goes my first attempt at tag 1 of 3. =) This'll probably be my black tag (all areas that are white will actually be transparent and utilize the black glossy finish with transparency). Also used the "brushed aluminum" background that AJRogers sent me (changed the settings on that one to make it pretty dark, then just edited out the white for transparent gloss).

Inspired by d8168055. (Astro Bigboss). (oh, and I did end up using masking instead, as the background needed to be moved and adjusted to have the small 'astro' logo show up with a better background, thanks!)

Please do this, my custom tag designs are done but I remembered someone talking about getting creative with transparency to make the black be glossy. I have all my stuff in psd format and have been playing around but for the life of me I can not get this to work right. I have a blue camo background with safefy orange letters and design. I want to be able to make the black stroke of the text and the black outline of the crosshair be deleted in a clean fashion, what should I do to accomplish my goal here...? My super kewl graphic arts cousin is coming over tomorrow so I am going to pick her brain a bit but I figured I might as well ask here :)

Never mind I figured it out. I decided to only black out the cross(hair)'s borders since the text didn't look right with just taking the stroke out. DId not look clean enough for me. I kinda like just the cross(hair) sticking out :) Just think, I was using ms paint before I found out that I could make custom tags, I do with you guys would allow us to send you vector for them because then they would be super sharp :(

Got mine in the mail today, was surprised at how fast they shipped. I ordered them on Monday. I think that my idea of having the outline of the crosshair stay transparent worked exactly like I hoped and it looks great. But I think that I should not have done the same with the black outline of the letters... Also, I am not happy with how 2 of the tags are printed off center. This is not too much of a problem with the regular tag, but on the mic hole tag it kinda rubs me the wrong way because I spent a lot of time making these and learning everything along the way. I had to make the blue digital camo, I had to make the cross-hair by hand and then figure out how to do clipping masks. I used guides along with the template to be perfectly centered. That was a strong learning curve since the last time I did anything was with MSPaint... So I guess I'm asking... should I even bother getting another pair made or are they going to turn out the same way with the printing errors(color streaks, off center)?
Don't get me wrong, I think this is an awesome idea you guys got going here but I think I might have to wait till all the kinks are ironed out before I try to get a replacement pair. :(

I think Blaque's tags look great. I can't see any banding issues on them, so looks like you lucked out. The off center part on the mic tag kinda sucks, since I know you tried to get the hole right where the crosshair was (good design idea with that). It's just barely noticiable. Glad the transparency stuff worked out.

Yep, too bad i learned about the transparent trick after i ordered my tags. I went back into the photoshop and tried it and easily got the controller knocked. I'll probably get some new tags later on.

I just noticed how it kinda looks like a black chrome. That would be very nice feature on the headset.

If you have a PC, it goes into C:\WINDOWS\Fonts - Make sure to be the TFF file in there not the whole zip...

Thinking about getting a set of A40's with mix amp but I wanted to check to see if I could make a decent set of Tags first (I'm a sucker for customization).

Will these turn out decent or are the details too small?
