yes my astros are coming in in a few days and i was wondering i got the opticul cable and when i hook that up should i unplug the aux cables(the colorful ones that produce sound) should i unplug them and i was also wondering is thee any way that i could have sound come out of the tv and still hear friends threw the head set?

Depends on your TV, on some sets for instance I could use both the tv's built in speakers on top of extra connected speakers(or headphones). Other TV sets require you to disable one to use the other.

On the 360/PS3 you can only output on one mode.

The easiest fool proof solution I can recommend would be to connect the console to the mixamp and then pick up the powered astro splitter(unpowered would work as well but could degrade audio quality, an audio signal is nothing more than an electrical signal so you can see the problem with splitting it in 2). Connecting your TV to one end and headset to the other. Viola problem fixed ;)
