Just ordered my A40's yesterday...YAH!!! My consoles are about 9ft away which is too far for the packaged 6ft USB cable, so I was wondering if I can use my laptop to power the mix amp?

Yeah, any USB Port will power the Mixamp no problem.

Isn't it also possible to use batteries? Though that's inconvenient, it's just another possibility, if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, like Gremlin and KayBeSee both said, any USB source will power the Mixamp. You can also use 4 AA batteries to power the mixamp or purchase ourrechargable battery pack (http://www.astrogaming.com/products/detail/13/USB-Rechargeable-Battery-Pack/).

Another few options are to simply purchase a longer USB cable or our Xtra Long Quick Disconnect to 4-pole Cable (http://www.astrogaming.com/products/detail/21/Xtra-Long-Quick-Disconnect-to-4-pole-Cable/).
