Wait how is Bungie and Activision joining forces a bad idea? I mean now we will be able to play Halo 5:Modern Space Combat...LOL. I think this is just Bungie trying to branch out and make something else. I see it as a plus but only time will tell

Come on. I know a lot of people HATE MW2 and there are even some who HATE MW. But you cant say that Infinity Ward/ Activision didnt put out one hellofa online game. Biggest release EVER. Now with the team that built games we love, Halo Halo2 Halo3, not ODST(Bunch of jerks stole my money with that game) I mean with these two powerhouses together what could go wrong...

Activision is a money whore, and it will be their demise. they are looking for a pick-me-up, because of the IW thing, and they know they are going to lose so they joined with Bungie....I'm a huge IW/Bungie fan so i have no problem with those two, it's Activision i have a problem with.

I get it now. I am on board. Down with Activision... wait if they were not with activision they would just be some other "money whore" IDK I am just going to keep my fingers crossed that the next 3 years provide some quality gaming from this group.

Activision has always been a money whore, not many other publishers will go to the lengths they have gone to...

Yeah Bliz is part of Activision, the possibilities that this door have opened are interesting. There could be amazing developments or some really really bad ideas thrown about. Bungie though aside from ODST isnt really known for making bad decisions. Its really not as bad of a game as that but Im just not a fan. The thing that worries me is if they joined in order to get Blizz some rights to the Halo title for a persistent world MMO using the halo story/characters. . . Thats the part that worries me.

There might be a Halo MMO out of this, originally it was going to be made but the dev spent too much money on it, so it was dropped.(btw Bungie was not developing this. Ensemble was.)
and a Halo MMO would be a perfect way to introduce PS3 players in the Halo universe.

Wait.. didn't Blizzard say they are working on a completely 'new' franchise, or something around that? Just sayin'..
Also, good posts Alpha, I completely agree with you.
EDIT: As well.. does EPIC Games have any main publisher? Like Microsoft Game Studios or something? 'Cause if they do.. and then branch off, and then plan the next 10 years with Activision, the world will definitely implode.

Yeah after reach, no more halo...
but as stated earlier, Ensemble WAS making a Halo MMORPG, i guess too much time and money passed and it was canceled.
I would hopefully assume bung-blizz would pick up this title.

this could be a good thing or bad thing. I'm not sure why the real reason bungie has partnered with activision but i have a theory. I think when bungie pulled away from microsoft that cut alot of the budget that they had so they put everything they had into reach but as far as making anything else they had to find someone else to help them. if you have noticed there hiring post on bungie.net. plus it also states PS3 in one of the tester jobs. anyways I for one do not care for MMO's

Here is why Bungie has partnered with Activison.
Long Story - Read it because it makes more sense or skip past to the short story.
On 1999 Bungie showed of a game called Halo: CE. A game for both the Mac and Windows. It was a well received game and people was really excited to purchase it.
Come the year 2000, Microsoft purchased Bungie Studios as they wanted to own the Halo IP for themselves, of course the deal was that Bungie would sign over the studio and the Halo IP if Microsoft funded their company, so they could get better hardware and software to make a better game as that's what Bungie wanted to do. Make a better game for the community.
After Halo: CE was released, Microsoft asked them to make Halo 2, and then Halo 3. Although Bungie loved the Halo series they was bored of making the same games so they asked Microsoft in 2009 (about a month after the release of Halo 3) to terminate their contract and let Bungie be a independent company. Microsoft agreed to this deal but would let them be free under one condition. They would have to keep making Halo games for Microsoft until they found a new company (343 Industries).
Come 2009. Bungie has made Halo 3: ODST and are about half way through finishing Halo: Reach. Microsoft forms a new company called 343 Industries to continue with the production of Halo. Bungie signs a new contract to completely become separate from Microsoft but under one condition, they let Frankie work for 343 Industries to keep an eye on their series. Halo. To make sure Microsoft doesn't screw it up.
Come 2010 Bungie is completely independent. They can do whatever they want which is what they have been waiting for. They need a publisher. So they make an agreement with Activision to publish their games. This agreement states that Bungie has 100% control over their games, their company and owns the IP to all of them in other words Bungie can make whatever can they want and all Activision can do is publish the games and get a cut of the profit, Activision can't stop Bungie asking them to publish the game, even if it sucks and Activision wants something changed.
Come end of 2010, they are looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test for the Playstation 3. Reason because Bungie wants to make a multi-platform game. They want one that will go onto the Xbox 360, the Playstation 3 and maybe the PC and Mac.
The End.
Short Story
- Bungie Shows of Halo CE.
- Microsoft purchases Bungie and the Halo IP and funds Bungie.
- Bungie is tired of making Halo so they ask to terminate their contract with Microsoft.
- Microsoft agrees but they must continue making Halo until they form a new company.
- 2010, Microsoft forms 343 Industries and lets Bungie become 100% Independent.
- End of 2010, Bungie signs a publishing deal with Activison. Bungie is still independent and owns 100% of their IP Games. All Activision can do is publish their games and take some of the profit.
- End of 2010, Bungie is looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test for the Playstation 3 because they want their game to be multi-platform.
- The End.
