I have some money to spend on my new room, and I want to have a "gamestation".
So basically using this schematic:
http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/9208/image001eh.jpg
[Just change the VGA/DVI cable to HDMI]
What and where should I buy all of this stuff? I have the laptop/PS3/360 already it's the monitor and the cabling that I need help on...
Also, could I sleeve some cables and make my system more streamline?
Any and all comments/questions/advice is welcomed. :)

Here are the two switches you will need. HERE (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10423&cs_id=1042302&p_id=2946&seq=1&format=2) & HERE (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10110&cs_id=1011002&p_id=4088&seq=1&format=2)
If your willing to spend a little more money you can get THIS (http://www.octavainc.com/HDMI%20switch%204port_toslink.htm) HDMI/TosLink switch. I can attest to it because I have one and it works super.
Sleeving your cables, now your talkin'. HERE (http://www.av-outlet.com/index.html?target=dept_442.html&lang=en-us) & HERE (http://cableorganizer.com/braided-sleeving/)
Toslink cables HERE (http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10229)
Monitor; that's something you'll have to find on your own. It's user preference. What you like...

I'm glad everyone knows so much.
As for the monitor, I need an HDMI input around 22inches, and wall mountable. Everything else is just what ever is best. :P

And for the cable sleeving, is there a guide on how to do it? Do I need any tools?

Most of the tutorials are of computer cable sleeving but it's the same concept. HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeCs98TSsYQ) is one.

oh yea my mistake:)
best buy has a 23 inch acer monitor. its quite a ncie monitor, i almost purchased that one but wanted a 2ms reponse time while the acer is 5ms. its 199 for the acer at best buy, go over and check out the specs on it. its a really nice one, has speakers in it. my friends got one and i like it, but do enjoy mine a little more even though its 21.5 inch. buy that one from best buy, then if theres any problems with a dead pixel or something just bring itt back to best buy for another one :) http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Acer+-+23%22+Widescreen+Flat-Panel+LCD+Monitor+-+Black/9183224.p?skuId=9183224&ky=1whxm51gbOgORrn6M8JOUlLjDtR0yY7Rx&cmp=RMX&id=1218049006792 i dont think its wall mountable, but just get a little table to go with it!
edit: it is wall mountable, so this one should do you great

About the sleeving, would I have to remove the connectors/heatshrink that is already on all the cables?

yes, otherwise why would you want to cover up already covered cables? :)

It's not really for aesthetics its more for organization.
I have a wired controller, so I just want all my cables in one place, then I'll probably sleeve the optical/HDMI cables and put them in my wall.
I have another question, how can I justify spending this money with my parents?
I'm a sophomore in high school, so I could say it's the same set up I'll use in college, so why not buy it now... When electronics are cheaper (bad economy) and when we aren't worrying about paying for board/tuition/books etc.
Any other ideas?
EDIT: I forgot to mention, no need for speaker in the monitor... I have A40s for mah noise :P

No, you shouldn't have to on audio cables as the plugs are more rounded than they are on computer cables.

ALL HDMI are the the same, so never buy a $60 monster cable. find the cheapest cable you can find on the internet and it will be the same as a monster cable.
and TOSlink switches are cheap anyway...

Actually, I think you have to be 16 to legally work a legitimate job here in the US. You can always work construction or as a painter and get paid under the table so-to-speak.

I mowed lawns from ages 12-16, and made a BOTALOAD of money...seriously, charge like 25 for a big lawn and 15 for a normal, and you make a lot of money...I was raising money for a classmate whos dad was dying, and ended up making $700 in a week, because i told my customers it was for that reason. If you do a good job and are courteous, people will hire you on a weekly basis.

You're right I used to do that too. You can make a boatload of money. I even got tipped even more than I was asking for because I did a good job.

Exactly, if you do a good job, and are fair with the price people are more willing to pay more. Dont under charge because then people take advantage of that, but dont overcharge, then you dont get a customer at all.

I'm going to work for the guy who cuts our lawn (he's a high school lacrosse coach) but that won't be anything substantial.
I want to work at this kid's camp I went to, and be a teacher's assistant in the Game Design/Web-page design classes so I just sit there and read some basic code and help out, and make like 1000 a month... I just don't have any means of transportation because I live in the 'burbs and I can't drive... I'd have to hitch a ride with a parent at some ungodly hour in the morning.
Here is what my dad said in response to my e-mail,
As regards gaming I have the following responses:
I know this has become very important to you and is your primary hobby /
means of relaxation. I am starting to come to terms with this now, but
there needs to be a balance. I can accept you dedicating a lot of your
spare time to gaming provided that it does not interfere with your
schooling, the ability of others in the household to sleep and it does
not become an all absorbing activity that prevents you from interacting
with us.
As regards the laptop I stand behind what I said before if you can earn
half I will pay the other half.
Now, you ask why should I be given a mass of electronical gear to put in my room? Well, in the future, I could hook up a TV to my monitor. Allowing computer/Xbox/(possible PS3) and Television all on HD screen. This would be a perfect solution in a college environment. I understand that it is expensive, but the economy is hurting, so electronics (especially in the summer) will be cheaper. Then in 2012 when tuition and books have to be paid for, minimal amounts of furniture will be necessary to buy.
I have
no problem in buying things that you need and fun stuff that you want,
provided that firstly you recognize this is a gift and not a necessity and
in return you show Mummy and I the respect we deserve, listen to what we
say and try to recognize our needs and expectations as well as your own.
What're your thoughts... I don't know how to take this... :P
