Hello peoplez!
Since I recently had an outburst of money, I bought an astro A30 audio system.
I am far from being a pro on audio inputs/outputs, and I wonder what kind of additional cable (to link my laptop to the mixamp) to use.
My laptop's an Asus G50 AK043K, and is quite an odd case.
Most of the online retailers say that the Asus G5OV has an SPDIF (coax) out. I checked on my laptop, and here's what I have:
- a microphone 3.5mm jack
- some kind of audio out 3.5mm jack (the arrow with the waves around it)
- another 3.5mm jack, but with "S/PDIF" written on it. Now I am confused. Also, by looking inside this jack, I notice the inside is a bit different than the two others. This is also where I used to plug my cheap headset.
What do you think would be the best thing to do?
-Get a 3.5mm to coax cable (problem being it is mono), in the vain hope that it means something with the fact that it's written S/PDIF on the jack?
-Get a 3.5mm to toslink cable?
-Get a 3.5mm to L/R RCA cable?
Last question, will a analog to digital cable allow the mixamp to produce virtual 5.1, or will it still be dolby pro duo?
Forgive the onslaught of questions, I am just feeling a little lost...
[EDIT: I found out that the Welcome Mat was where the questions were asked (even if the name is quite misleading)... Sorry about that, admins are free to move this post anytime.]
