I just got my A40s today. I have been debating between the A40s and X41s for a while. I read various reviews online and they both seem like great headsets but I could not decide between the two. In the end I chose the A40s because they looked like a superior product and I felt that I could not go wrong with these headsets. I also felt that I could probably connect these to any device. If I am going to cough up $260 for a headset I want to be able to use them for any gaming system, movies and music. So I get home and try them on and everything is looking great as expected. I connected the headset to my pc and decided to play Transformers 2 on blu-ray to test them out. What a disappointment! First thing I noticed is that I was not getting any audio from the movie. So I changed the track to French Dolby 5.1 and it works. The only English track is HD-DTS. So my first question is, does the A40 support DTS? The second thing that I noticed was that on the French audio track, my $20 headset sounded louder and better? What’s going on? I have it connected to my PC with the included microphone cable and TOSlink. I am also using PowerDVD to view movies on my PC. Any help would be greatly appreciated. In the mean time I will do further testing with some games.

Thanks,

----Update to my first post.-------

I started messing around with PowerDvd and was able to get better sound by setting the speakers to S/PDIF and the output to AC3 Mixing. I get no audio from DTS mixing. So from doing some online searches PowerDvd re-encodes the DTS signal to AC3 with the AC3 mixing option. Can someone confirm this? The sound has improved. I also tried to play COD: World at War but I cannot change the speaker settings to anything other than stereo speakers. I checked the settings in windows for the SPDIF and it is currently set to 2 channel, 16bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality). There are no options for anything greater than 2 channels through the SPDIF. So does that mean I can’t get 5.1 from the headsets in PC games? I will continue to test the headphones on Gears of War 2 (Xbox 360). I will keep you all posted. If anyone could help me out with this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the mixamp can't decode DTS...it'd be great though.
