Get ready for Steam and Source this April!

Valve has announced Mac support for its Steam digital distribution platform and Source -- the engine that powers Half-Life 2, amongst others. In fact, Portal 2 will be Valve's first simultaneous release across PC and Mac. "Steamworks for the Mac supports all of the Steamworks APIs, and we have added a new feature, called Steam Play, which allows customers who purchase the product for the Mac or Windows to play on the other platform free of charge," said Valve's Jason Holtman. "For example, Steam Play, in combination with the Steam Cloud, allows a gamer playing on their work PC to go home and pick up playing the same game at the same point on their home Mac. We expect most developers and publishers to take advantage of Steam Play."

So yeah, have you purchase all those great games such as Left 4 Dead, Portal and Half Life! for the PC (I haven't because I don't own a gaming computer yet!) although if you have, any you want to. Download them free of charge on your Mac! this April.

Wow, thanks for the good info. I wish companies would do this with the Xbox 360 and the PC. =P I was a PC gamer for so long before getting into the Xbox scene, and I feel like my skills with a keyboard and mouse are still so much better than what I can do on a controller.

I agree. I used to be a PC Gamer, Command and Conquer, Battlefield 2, Half-Life and even WoW. Since moving to the Xbox 360 it's okay but you will never beat a good PC. Especially a mouse and keyboard. They proved this when they stopped cross platforming games such as Shadowrun.
