Were the A40s the first and only headset by Astro or did something come before?

I'm sure there were revisions to the current A40 headsets, but they were never released to the public. ASTRO Gaming worked with some pro teams in the 2006 MLG circuit to find out what were the needs of professional gamers in the audio headset realm. The result was the A40 Audio System (headphones and MixAmp) that's sold today.

Thanks Warblade. I wonder if anyone has pics of these prototypes.
i would like it if astro could offer adjustable directional volume, front back side to side :)

Thanks Warblade. I wonder if anyone has pics of these prototypes.
After a bit of searching (and looking at some OLD PAX pics from 2007's PAX event), I did find some pics.
Enjoy!

Check out these pretty sick gray ones, being held by none other than Founder and VP, Jodan Reiss.

Excellent photos Warblade! They looked a lot different than I thought they would look... To bad they don't sell the gray ones :(

Great Pics. Thanks again Warblade.
Those gray ones gave me an idea. Anodized Aluminum A40s :D
I realize they would cause weight issues though.

While having grey on the underside looks a little strange (under the speaker tags), the frame in grey looks great, and I think would have been a great look with the Metal Gear Solid series that was released not too long ago. Perhaps something like this will come out in a future Special Edition product.
