View Full Version : Where you got your name, and/or how?
DBakerr

So, where'd you get your name from? Why are these symbols in it? What does it mean? How did you get it?
Etc. Etc. :)
And to answer Little Miss Br's question.. the reason why I have two 'R's in my name, is because I believe I once created a Zune Account under the name of "DBaker" and forgot what to do with it so made another Zune account and now that one is useless.. so I had to use two 'R's and I was fine with it. So I have two 'R's at the end of my name because 'DBaker' didn't work. It kind of looks better too in my opinion. (DBakerr). And, DBaker is from my name, which is.. Deven Baker. :P
So, of course, how did you get your name etc. ?
Nevermind

Nevermind is the name of one of Nirvana's albums, I grew up with their music and it has always meant something to me, Kurts lyrics have always spoken to me on a level I can't articulate.
It used to be bleach which was another of their albums but to many people confused it with the anime series anyway I've been Nevermind for a couple years now.

Hrm, for me, I grew up a comic book geek. One of my favorite characters was "Warblade" from the Jim Lee series WildCATs. I think I started using it in 1995... back on an old BBS with the game Legend of the Red Dragon. Stuck with me ever since.

When I first started playing Halo on Xbox Live, my initial gamertag was So Long Pluto (my old MySpace screen name since the day Pluto was officially declared NOT a planet anymore).
I got sick of people confusing me for a little boy, so I wanted to get a gamertag that pretty much said straight out that I was, in fact, a girl.
The battle rifle is my favorite weapon in Halo, so I just threw it on the end of Little Miss. There ya go.

I have my Gamertag and then my nickname.
My nickname which everyone refers to me as is Edge. I got that because well I failed a test in Design Te*****gy in School because my work made out of plastic had a sharp edge. Pretty stupid really. From there I used that as my nickname in Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun
Since Edge was taken and The Edge was taken on Xbox Live, I decided to start with Hyper because well I am hyper from Energy Drinks. Then I used a random word generator which came out with Vertigo. Boom stuck them together to make Hyper Vertigo. When I moved to the Xbox 360 I forgot the password to recover so I started again but put a The on the start to make TheHyperVertigo.

Interesting guys and gals! :) Anyone else?
Also, LittleMiss, did you see my Pluto poem ever? I may have showed you it.. I could probably even post it on the forum, if you didn't. :P
I've had quite a bit of names.. for xbox live.. DBakerr is what made me happy most but I started with.. "CursedButDeadly", then moved to "DBakerr", then "CanadianBakerr" I think, then back to DBakerr then exceL i or something like that, then back to DBakerr :P and then a few others of which I don't really care about I think? My main gamertag that I enjoy most is DBakerr.
My nickname is that, or else.. LawnGnome, or Gnomie, or Gnome, or something around that.. back before I had started Xbox Live for the 360, (I had like.. original xbox live but I used my own name / xcel for that) I didn't know what kind of name/nickname I wanted to use for games, so I asked around.. no one could really give me one.. then I asked one of my good friends and he just randomly plopped out Rabid Gnome or something like that.. so I was like, 'Okay!', there after I used "ARabidLawnGnome" and names like that.. for Battlefield 2 I used ARabidWarGnome, and it just fits the situation.
I changed the Lawn part of my name to fit the game, and I liked that. ;P Then at one of my main LAN centers, they had made me a hoodie that said LawnGnome on the back. On the neck / hood area it had "Caution: Rabid" so, I thought that was a cool feature. Then before that I had used some random names, including the other one 'exceL' etc. but also.. Little Demon because my friend had used some kind of demon name back then.. I had quite a few names back then, but those were/are the main ones. :)

LolXCoreZorz was entirely an invention of my imagination when my friend and I got 360's and decided to reinvent our names, he changed to i DonnieDarko i and I to LolXCoreZorz. People often ask what it means, and I just say, laugh out loud with a bunch of superfluous modifiers on it. Because when I'm in a good mood, I laugh alot and make other people do the same :)
My original name was EAHStennis, EAHS was making fun of my retarded high school for changing from Eisenhower High School to Eisenhower ACCELERATED High School, and this was nonsense because we were in no way accelerated. Fail. Also, I'm a tennis lover/player :)
I got tired of that name though because people kept calling me Stennis. W T F
Other names!
l Fizicks l
ix mewtwo xi
Cmdr Barbossa
Lol its Thomas
Fizicks was with a buddy from my physics class in college, and that is an account I don't play anymore, at least until i reactivate it, his is also Fizicks.
Mewtwo was because me and some friends made pokemon names for H2 and played with pokemon balls as our emblems :) Our trademark was yelling, pokeball, go! and hitting people with plasma grenades lolololol
Cmdr Barbossa was because I had watched pirates of the carribean and felt like I did a pretty spot on impression of Barbossa, so I did that with his voice for about a month. Much merryment.
Lol its Thomas was because that is my name and I had some friends with Lol its _____ :)

mine is pretty simple, i got mine at work when i use to dissappear ("out of sight, out of mind" is our motto)...so one guy at work said the bosses need to put a LoJack system on you to find you...since then everybody been calling me that, funny thing it got around to my mother and one day im over her house and shes calls me that...atm it was halarious, she knows what it was cause she had it on a car she had years ago and they found it fast with that system when it had gotten stolen.
there was a guy named izzy in the mummy returns movie (when it was new) everybody said i acted like him and then they started calling me that so it just stuck.

Mewie
03-01-2010, 02:31 PM
Mewie is a fusion of my wife's last name and my last name.
Mew + Louie ---> Mewie
I admit, it's not 'manly.' But it means a lot to me and I'm happily married.
Some Halo punk kids like to 'meow' at me. But that's okay. I'm a cat-lover. lol No, I don't 'meow' back. That would just make me sound like a pedophile.
MrGlasket
03-01-2010, 04:40 PM
I actually have quite a couple of names. MrGlasket was a suggested name on youtube when I tried to register glasket. More importantly, however, is that glasket is an old CS 1.6 name of mine. I was tired of seeing everyday words and names like, "The Champ." or something like that, so I decided to "invent" a word that sounded good. Thus, glasket. Apparently, there is a metal band called Glass Casket and I've been asked if I was a huge fan of the band.
My prior GT on xbox live was infamousbear...and there is no story there. I liked the idea of a bear having a sense of notoriety. I also like the fact that since where I'm at in the south, the word infamous is sometimes said in famous, like they're two separate words.
My PSN name and the name that I used on MW for the PC and CS:S, is LPep. LP and EP being the two different types of record presses or album lengths. Also, LP is my middle and last initial. Unfortunately, nobody calls me L P E P, I get called Lee Pep and Lil' pep a lot, which I think is quite unfortunate.
I think when I first started out...my CS name was eVickt. I'm a big fan of things that sound cool, but have no real meaning.
There you go.

You should only meow at your team mates in MLG and see how angry they get... it seems like it would be fun. :)

I started gaming when I was about 4 years old and I was a ninja for every Halloween until about 10 years old. So obviously a ninja sticks to the shadows and I wanted to be a professional ninja when I grew up so I started putting that down for any and all multi-player games I played. Unfortunately the name really sucks for most games like CoD and Halo. I remember I used to wear the black spartan suit in Halo CE, but it did work really well for my favorite online game of all time Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. The amount of time I put into that game probably would be enough to find a antidote for cancer if the effort was put towards that. Too bad Double Agent (also a Splinter Cell game) catered to casual gamers. Anyway that is my lame story of how I got my name :D

okay so when i was younger there was a college football player called vince young. Currently pays for titans.
I was a huge fan of him and wanted to be just like him. so i guess i thought i was a young vince young. If that makes sense. That was mannny years agoo. My xbox live name (TR1F3KKTA x) comes from rainbow six vegas. If anyone played that game theyll know what i mean by a Yahtzee. It's basically getting a tripple kill but not with 1 bullet. The death icons only show your name and the people you killed so u would call Yahtzee. Don't know who started this but almost everyone knew what they are talking about. I always got those so i saw the word trifecta somewhere and thought of rainbow six and soon changed my name.

Cool thread.
My name is Ryan, hence the "Rye" part. I had an uncle who always called me "Rye Guy the French Fry." Anywho.
Xeno, as you may have assumed, is from Xenogears. One of my favorite games of all time. Originally my tag was xRYEg, but after being accused of being racist (It COULD, if you were nitpicking, be seen as a japanese person trying to say "X-Y-Z", supposedly), I changed it to this.

DarkStarSinner: I got the DarkStar from a skateboard company from when I was younger and used to skate. The sinner came from a little devil guy I used to draw that kinda became my icon/logo.
My gamer tag for Live is DARKSTARPAPI. I forgot my password for my darkstarsinner account and my wife used to call my Papi all the time so I used that instead and am actually kinda fond of it. I now have access to darkstarsinner on Live so I own both names and occasionally play on Sinner to get a break from constant invites.
DarkStar has become a big part of my life, and is in fact part of the name of the company I now own, DarkStar Tuning. I think it fits very well, don't you?
Lt. Croaker
03-15-2010, 01:22 PM
I'm a Military History buff. I started out with GreenGhost5. But then everyone kept giving me hell about it on XBL. It's actually a historical reference. It's to do with Special Forces operating during 'Nam. The Viet Cong often refered to Green Berets as "green men" or "ghosts". The most prominent Special Forces group in Vietnam was SF group 5.
I then changed it to WarRanger1778, another historical reference. Then I kept running into folks who would talk about power rangers. This is in reference to the first U.S.S. Ranger ever comissioned. It was comissioned in 1776, had its first victory in 1778 over HMS Drake, in 1780 she was captured by the HMS Halifax.
So, I then changed it to Lt. Croaker. Croaker is a character in The Black Company series of books written by Glen Cook.
Croaker is the companys physican and annalist.
I'm very happy with the GT I have now.
Lt. Croaker.
