I live in Hawaii, and as soon as I wake up my crazy mom walks in and tells me a 8.8 earthquake hit Chile. (my condolences go out to those who died) and that there is a tsunami coming in approximately 3 hours... :(

Yikes, my prayers are with the people of Chile who are affected by this... crazy.

What part of Hawaii are you in Holiday? I hear it may strike around the Hilo area of the big island.

I live in Honolulu (Oahu) Hilo I hear is going to be hit the hardest because they're the first island standing in the way of the tsunami. Approximately 1 hour Hawaii is going to be hit... Hope it's nothing major...

It turned out to be quite minor. No injuries and the meteorologists overhyped it a lot. Better safe than sorry however... No damage or injuries so that's a good thing. :)

EDIT: Although, my condolences to the families that lost loved ones in Chile :(

Ahhh, Honolulu/Waikiki is an amazing place, though I love the laid back feel of North Shore much more. I need to plan a much needed return visit some time, but for my honeymoon a few years ago, we traveled around to the different islands on a 7 day cruise. So much fun.

I live in Hawaii and I got 3 hours of sleep from the night before because people were going crazy.

One of the funniest things I heard from a friend, whose family all still lives in Hawaii, is that there were signs up at the markets stating that "There's a limit of 2 cans of Spam per person in this emergency." I love Spam!
