Hello everyone!

New guy here from California.

I just purchased a Mixamp 5.8 and am having problems recieving audio from my Xbox via the component adapter and TOSLINK.

No audio using TOSLINK via component adapter. I checked that the TOSLINK cable and Mixamp 5.8 are functional by using optical out from my DVR.

Audio with DVR was running simultaneously with speakers and headphones so I muted the speakers and I had no isssues.

On the Xbox with the Mixamp on and plugged in, I still have stereo audio via my receiver but no audio via headphones.

My setup: Component video and RCA audio--> TV inputs-> Audio out--> Receiver

Xbox optical out--> Mixamp optical in.

I have also changed the audio setting in the Xbox to Dolby 5.1

I hope this is detailed enough to get this figured out.

This really looks to be a nice product, just trying to work out what I am doing wrong.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I'm a moron, I don't know how I managed to post in the News area but I did.

Could Mods please move to the Help area?

Sorry guys, I am already being a nuisance!

You're using component cables + the optical cable? Maybe try powering down your Xbox, disconnecting the red and white audio cables from your TV, then turning your Xbox back on (make sure the TOSlink cable is inserted).

Additionally try disconnecting then reconnecting all of your cables for the MixAmp. Also, try resyncing the TX and RX units by holding the power buttons down simultaneously until they turn white.

Thanks for the reply.

I just gave all of those things a shot and still didn't get anything. I also gave it a try on my buddies 360 to no avail.

Any other ideas?

Well I figured it out.

I may as well post that the stock optical cable is a waste of time and a POS.

After trying many many things and wasting a few hours rewiring all of my a/v cables and testing on a couple of Xboxes, I decided to go out and purchase a new optical cable, and just in case that that didn't work, a new component adapter for the box as well.

Luckily I can return the new component as the new optical did the trick. I didn't change any settings or anything, just the optical. I figure that the stock optical was not fitting in the TOSLINK port on the component adapter properly, even though it was showing red light through the fiber. Oh well.

Hopefully this helps someone else out in the future.
