I have the a40's with mix amp and was wondering if anyone else out there uses them for pc gaming. If so how do you connect yours? With a fiber optic cable of just the analog ones? Also if i do connect with fiber optic, i know there is a decoder on the mix amp. Do you want to keep the mix amp dolby decoder on and disable my sound blasters decoder or the other way around. I am pretty sure you can't have two sources decoding the digital sound.
thanks,
marc

I have mine on my PC & Xbox 360.

Only problem, I have my 360 going Optical and my PC just regular old Red & White Cables and I cant switch it back and forth, I have to unplug the fiber optic cable to hear my PC.

Anyway, thats how I have mine, but when I do have my PC going Fiber, you dont need to disable the decoder, it shouldn't matter I dont think.

Yeah because more decoders mean MORE better Dolby!!

I am currently going through this situation now. I got the A40s and have connected them to the digital output from my sound card (sound blaster x-fi). The problem I am having is that the sound card can only output 2 channel 16bit sound (stereo) through the digital output. Does anyone know if this is normal? Do the astros convert the 2 channel sound to 5.1 on PC games?

Thanks,

Punisher

I'm pretty sure that's what the mixamp did (via Dolby Headphone)...if your mixamp is connected as well then I don't know if it would or not. If the mixamp isn't connected then I'm pretty sure the sound isn't converted to 5.1.
