Anyone try tinkering around and removing this same plate? I took a look at my buddies and couldn't figure out how this is held in... Maybe I'll need that crazy triangle head screwdriver?

yeah that is crazy, the thing i use for that little triangle screw is in a swiss army knife, its the little file thing fits perfectly

Nope, it looks legit. Also he is a ASTRO Moderator so he can get his hands on them easy, I think. Even if it is Photoshoped it could be replicated in real life.

It is real (the little bling is enhanced in photoshop). It is a process called vacuum metalizing (VM), and this color was one of our early trials for the new color corks in the BXR SE headsets. We tried a variety of different finishes, but we decided that the smoked chrome was the most practical and best looking to match the blue and red headbands.

Any secrets to removing this plate for a DIY coloring? Or is it just there's screws behind the magnets?

Here are more screws underneath the driver covers (felt padding covering the speakers), and they are attached by 2x sided tape. I dont recommend doing this unless you have spare covers as when you pull them off, they may bet torn...

d8168055 actually works (or worked) for Astro as a designer. It is actually legit.
